Eli-Alps Laser Facility

The implementation works of the Eli-Alps Laser Facility have started in April 2014. They mainly used high-strength concretes (C25/30 and C30/37), and our company transported 18000 m3 of these concrete types to the project. The delivery ceremony of the HUF 70 billion worth facility was held on the 23rd of May 2017.

The new facility will help the development of laser material research, because at Eli-Alps Szeged researchers will be able to work with high technology machines. However, it was a great challenge even just to arrive to this point, because there are several factors which make the realization of the investment difficult. One of these factors is the brevity of time, because they have only a little more than two years to finish the construction, and no one in the world has ever designed a facility of similar size or nature. Natural characteristics do not ease the situation either: the soil of the building area contains an approximately 40 meter deep layer of unusable clay.

Despite these problems the investment is on schedule, and now the complex’s buildings are over 90% finished. But the construction won’t finish with the delivery in December, because the installation of the research center’s infrastructure will start at that point. The definitive delivery will be on the 31st of May, 2018, since by that time the technological system will be arrived too. The realization of some of these tools will start only in 2017, and because of this some posterior mechanical engineering and interior architecture modifications could happen in the future.

But for the present there are no slips in the project, and after the delivery ceremony one of the first tasks will be the fine-tuning of the appliances, so that in the second part of 2018 the research programs could start. We are proud to grant “base” with our particular cement and concrete types to constructions like this. The used high-strength concretes guarantee perfect solidity to the complex on clayey and wet soil as well.
