Green Altrenative Competition 2019 - Vác

Green Alternative Competition continues to be a success!

We held our now traditional two-round environmental competition for high school students in 2019 as well, this time again in the Vác Plant. This April we also extended our corporate social responsibility program with further outdoor activities.

Within the framework of the DDC Green City Program the we held the first round of the Green Alternative Competition on 5 April, where the participating teams were met with exciting challenges requiring creativity and resourcefulness. Over the course of the first round the teams that registered to compete filled out a questionnaire about the cement plant, environmental protection and the town of Vác, after which they were invited to plant trees and flowers, and the event concluded with the creation of a land art installation using the twigs and leaves scattered over the area. The six most successful teams competed in the final on 26 April at the Vác Cement Plant.

The celebrity guest of the event was singer Peti Puskás, who is, just like DDC, deeply committed to the protection of the environment. The influencer took part in all of the tasks and was eager to support the contestants of the Green Alternative Contest.

On 26 April thefinal of the Green Alternative Competition and Open Day was held for the fifth time. Over the past few years high school students living in the vicinity of the Vác and Beremend Plants, respectively, were given a chance to get to know the operation of the company with the help of exciting and thought-provoking tasks, sprinkled with laughter and fun.

In addition to completing skill-based challenges, the six best teams reaching the final in late April had to fill questionnaires on conscious cement production and the use of alternative fuels. The teams were encouraged to showcase their creative sides as well by putting on a fashion show featuring dresses made from cement sacks and jewellery made from DDC cement-based concrete. In the end the team entitled Betonkay from the Boronkay György High School was awarded the first prize. The silver medal went to the team Evlourkók from Madách Imre High School of Vác, while another team from Boronkay High School, Axolotls, reached the third place. In recognition of their work they were awarded valuable prizes.
