Beremend Cement Plant welcomes visitors with open gates

A record number of participants have registered in advance for the visitors’ day at the Beremend Cement Plant. The families and groups who decided to visit the factory on 21 September had the chance to get introduced to the process of cement production and the factory’s programs focusing on creating a sustainable environment, while they were also treated with some home-made delicacies of local producers.

As one of the largest employers of the region, our company pays particular attention to establish regular contact with the factory’s and its own wider environment and community, and to actively participate in local developments and new ideas.

State-of-the-art European technology, sustainable cement production

During the visitors’ day the participants received an interactive lecture on the everyday life of the Beremend Plant. Then they visited the factory and the mine as well to get acquainted with the process of extraction and manufacture and they also had the chance to admire a picturesque view of the region from the mine. In the factory the visitors travelled on a small train so they could tour the whole site without getting too tired.

Among the visitors there were numerous families and primary and high school classes. DDC paid special attention to their entertainment and organized a wide selection of fun educational programs for the younger as well as older children. The weather was very kind, the visitors’ day was held on one of the last warm days of the year, so the participants spent the Friday under bright sunshine in Beremend.

As one of the leaders of sustainable cement production, DDC paid special attention to reduce the event’s ecological footprints compared to previous years.

The popularity of the event is also shown by the fact that all free spaces were sold out within a short time after the announcement. Those who did not have the opportunity to visit the factory this year have no reason to be disappointed, as the cement factory opens its gate from time to time and gives local communities a chance to look behind the scenes of sustainable cement production.
