Expansion of the M2 motorway between Vác and Budapest

The M2 motorway was expanded between Budapest and the Vác southern junction by the 1 October 2019. Our company’s Vác Concrete Plant participated in the project. With the strengthening of the existing road, the near 20 km long expressway stage turned into a 2x2 lane highway with a median strip between the lanes. After the expansion motorists are able to drive at a maximum of 110 km/h speed between Budapest and Vác.

As a part of the project 5 new bridges were built, 14 existing ones were renovated, and the road between Budapest and Vác received a covered shoulder. As a result of the expansion the settlements located alongside the motorway (Dunakeszi, Göd, Sződ, Sződliget, Fót, Csörög and Vác) will be relieved of transit traffic, while traffic safety is expected to increase and the number of accidents to decrease.

DDC’s concrete department provided 5.000 m³ of ready-mix concrete for the contractors.

The investor of the project is NIF Zrt., and the main contractors are STRABAG Építő Kft. and Strabag AG (STR+S-M2 Consortium).
