DDC expands with the merger of Readymix Hungária

As a result of several years of proceedings, Readymix Hungária Kft. merged into Duna-Dráva Cement Kft. on the 1st of January 2019. DDC’s primary goal with the acquisition was to further strengthen its market position and expand its business.

The merger significantly increased - in fact doubled - the Company’s concrete business line, and expanded its gravel mining and selling area with new mines as well. With the acquisition DDC, in addition to its key role earned in the cement manufacture market, further strengthened its position in the field of ready-mix concrete production. Besides its nationwide presence, as of 1 January 2019 DDC’s concrete business line is operating with a total of 51 proprietary and joint-venture concrete plants. As a part of the process, the company has expanded its portfolio with a new business unit: paving stone manufacture.

Following the takeover of 2 November 2017, the cooperation of the two companies began, resulting in joint delivery to the Budapest ready-mix concrete market from the spring of 2018. Another significant milestone was the unification of software and hardware tools used by the two then legally separate companies in July-August 2018.

The acquisition was preceded by intensive work: the two companies worked together to prepare the merger, to take over Readymix group’s bookkeeping and accounting tasks, and to define the framework of the joint operation.
